What is it about romance books that feature families, that we love so? Think about it. How many books have you read in the last five years that belonged to a series featuring siblings. Whether its sisters, brothers or both.
Why do we love them? Is it simply an easy out for the author? To link a series by blood?
I think it’s a lot deeper than that. For me personally, I love the interaction you get with siblings. Emotions tend to run stronger and most of the time there’s no sugar coating of emotion. Family is blood and that just means something more.
My series, The Jaguar Warriors, feature a family of shapeshifting brothers—The Castille’s. They’re wildly passionate and alpha men, who are not only bonded because of their unique shapeshifting abilities, they’re family. And family is everything. It matters.
And that’s good, considering my boys became embroiled in a fantastic and dangerous journey, starting with His Darkest Hunger and continuing with His Darkest Embrace.
In this second book of the trilogy, Jagger is at a crossroads but his world is about to be rocked in ways he’d never imagined. Here is the blurb:
Each is the other’s sole hope for survival. But a dark and twisted truth is leading them toward the ultimate sacrifice for a love they may never live to claim.
Jagger is going to have to overcome a lot to get his Happy Ever After and you can bet his family is going to do whatever they can to make sure it happens!
QUESTION: Tell me what it is you love about books that feature families!

I love books with families because I love reading about the other family members, especially if they’re funny or a huge influence on the main character.

Hi, Juliana! I think the reason I like series where all family members get a romance is… because nobody is left out. Everybody is TAKEN care of. Even Uncle John who might be left alone!!! We can’t have anyone ALONE. Since humans are the most social creatures on the planet, I’d say I’ll chalk that one up to human nature. 😉 As for you books. Oooo, love HIS DARKEST HUNGER already just because the heroine is named Skye. Of course, I need some pompoms to shout “Give her an H!” Anyway, fabulous blurb. And who doesn’t want to read about… Read more »
Hi Juliana!
I too love the interaction you get with siblings. I think it’s fun to read about one siblings happily-ever-after in one book and then jump to the next book about the skeptical sibling who doesn’t think it’ll happen for them and then it does:) The Jaguar Warriors… I would love to read about these shapeshifting brothers! Shapeshifter reads just so happen to be my fav right now. Definitely adding these books to the wishlist.
Hey all! Just want to correct that His Darkest Hunger is the first book featuring Jaxon Castille and Libby Jamieson. His Darkest Embrace releases October 26th and features the youngest Castille brother, Jagger and Skye Knightly.
Thanks for having me Lila!
I love family books because of the interaction from said family members.
How they get involved and the witty conversations etc. It shows the Hero or Heroine in different lights as they deal with their family.I definitely want to read these books because I love shifter stories and love when the hero least expects it he’s met his match.

Reading about families immediately forges a bond between the reader and the characters because who can’t relate to family dynamics?
I would love to read book 2!!

this book is full of awesomesauce! I already won an digital ARC of HDE, but I would
*love to win an actual hard copy (have you seen that cover?) I think having families involved in a series sets up a wonderful dynamic for the characters. One that we all can relate too. We all have the “good” and “bad” members of our family. And let’s face it, having hot sexy alpha-male brothers snark it out is great 😉
I agree with all the comments – reading about other families somehow makes your own seem not quite so…..quirky. The books sound fantastic! Have a great weekend Lila and Juliana!
Hi Juliana! I have to admit, I’m fairly new to paranormal romance and your books look really good. No shiny vampires, right? *grin* I’m only joking.
I love books with strong family characters, especially siblings. My favorite Johanna Lindsey books are the Malory books (siblings, cousins, in-laws, fathers…they’re a big family), Julia Quinn’s Bridgerton series…I just can’t get enough. It’s probably why I put family in my own books. Family dynamics lend an entirely new dimension to external conflict or even helping the H/H get to their happily ever after!
Hi, Juliana! Best wishes for your terrific series, “The Jaguar Warriors”!
I love to read about families. I am an only child, and all of my immediate family is gone. I have often wondered what it would be like to be a member of a large, extended family–even a spooky, supernatural family with “issues”. Come to think of it, that does remind me of my own family, bless their souls : )

I like seeing who is up for romance.
There is often a black sheep and seeing their story is fun too.
And of course, coming back, visiting with the family and meeting the characters again and seeing what they are up to after the romance is wonderful too.

I love family books because i love to get the chance to see what has happend to the charcters that i loved and how they have devoloped
I love books that feature families. I like them because we get to see how the interact with eachother. There are no fronts, they are who they are. I like how the siblings are able to call out the others bs. Also, no one gets left out. I like that we get to feel the connection between the characters.
I like books about families because I find them a bit easier to relate to. It doesn’t mater what “kind” of family you are, we all have a thing or two in common!
Thanks!
Kate

The majority of us readers have families, whether by blood or by choice, so we understand some situations and characters in stories with families.

I do enjoy families in my stories, especially when they show one where the people care about each other but they might do something the others don’t like, just like in real life.
Hi Juliana and Lila! I love the connections and the caring in family books, and seeing what happens to all the characters as they pop up in other stories. Jaguar Warriors – alpha and family – very intriguing!
Hello Juliana! I like how books that feature families just hook me and keep the intrigue going!
I really love reading a book series about a family (especially if each member gets their own book) that way I can continue to read about all the characters in future books in the series. It is kind of cool to get glimpses of what their lives are like as each book comes out.
I just read the first book in the series and loved it, so I would love to win a copy of His Darkest Embrace 🙂

I like to read books featuring families by experiencing their interactions. In every family, real or fictional, there is a series member, a super smart member, the family clown, and one everyone listens to, no matter what.
Thanks,

Hi, Juliana!
Sounds like a great book–Love the titles–anything with “dark” sounds good. Look forward to reading them.
Families-gotta love them. Guess I like its always a tie that makes for some interesting bonds, but I think a family with a destiny or a curse sounds interesting.
I love books with families, because of the interactions between them and the insight it gives into the characters.

Books with family values incorporated in them are so great to read because they’re so easy to relate to. Family’s always a huge part of one’s life, so it makes you all all the more closer to the story!

I love the interactions between families, you can learn a lot about a character that way, and I also like that you get to know and love the other family members.
