Mr. DiPasqua: Welcome back to the A MIDNIGHT DANCE Blog Party. We have another great lineup this week! Another week of fantastic prizes! And only 5 days until our grand finale on Friday!!
Please help me welcome our special guest at the ball. Today we have Mr.Grant with us. Mr. Grant, can you tell us who you’re married to and what she writes?
Mr. Grant: I’m married to Donna Grant and she writes historical paranormal romance. The best books ever. 🙂
Mr. DiPasqua: Your wife’s fans would like to know the RH (Romance Husband) behind the author better. Can you tell us a little bit about yourself? Scholar? Athlete? Businessman? Artist?
Mr. Grant: I suppose first and foremost I would call myself a husband and father. I am a salesman and amateur (very amateur!) triathlete.
Mr. DiPasqua: Where did you and your wife meet? What convinced you that she was “the one”?
Mr. Grant: We met in a Business Communication class in college when I was just out of the Marine Corps. I knew she was the one at the end of our first date when I received the best goodnight kiss in the world!
Mr. DiPasqua: The power of a kiss!! 😉 Where were you when she got THE CALL from her agent/editor? What was your reaction when she told you she’d sold her first book?
Mr. Grant: I was in my car working on the road when she called to tell me about it. My reaction was that I had to pull over, I was so excited!
Mr. DiPasqua: It’s definitely a thrilling moment. Mr. Grant, can you tell us–is the hero in your wife’s last book:
a) Just like you;
b) The opposite of you;
c) You wish it were you;
d) More like Mr. May in the NYC Firefighter calendar.
Mr. Grant: He has some of my personality traits, but looks completely different than I do.
Mr. DiPasqua: On your first date with your wife, were you most like:
a) Prince Charming;
b) Prince (bad boy) Harry;
c) The Artist formally known as Prince;
d) Prince, the family pet.
Mr. Grant: I would say I was more Prince Charming than anything else. I was raised in the south, and believe me, chivalry is not dead down here!
Mr. DiPasqua: Nowadays when you hear the word “ball” do you immediately think:
a) Baseball
b) Basketball
c) An uncontrollable weeping reaction of fans upon meeting your wife in person?
d) A gathering of lords and ladies.
Mr. Grant: It actually depends on whom I am speaking with. If I’m talking to my wife, it’s obviously a gathering of lords and ladies. Anybody else, we’re probably talking football.
Mr. DiPasqua: LOL. How long have you been a RH? (Romance Husband). What advice would you give new RH’s about what you’ve learned being married to a romance author? What should a new RH do or not do when his wife is under deadline?
Mr. Grant: I’ve been a RH for about 10 years now. The best advice I could give a new RH is to expect the unexpected. One day, you come home and the publishing gods have been kind and all is well. The very next day, the universe has exploded. When your wife is under deadline, do everything you can to make her life easier, dishes, laundry, kids, etc.
Mr. DiPasqua: Ah, the roller-coaster life of a RH 🙂 Okay, you know I have to go there . . . What’s your response when asked, “So where does your wife get the inspiration for her love scenes?” (Usually by a guy smirking.)
Mr. Grant: I’m a jokester, so I usually tell everyone that I am not her husband, I’m her research assistant! Then I tell them I am also the cover model on all her books!
Mr. DiPasqua: Which character in your wife’s books would she say most resembles you and/or your personality?
Mr. Grant: I would say that although none of them resemble my appearance, all of them have various parts of my personality.
Mr. DiPasqua: One final question, Mr. Grant: What would you like us to know about your wife’s latest or upcoming release?
Mr. Grant: Her next book is book 5 in her bestselling Dark Sword series.
The Dark Sword series captures all the power, passion, and magic of Scotland’s legendary warriors—sworn to fight for victory, in battle and in love…
HE CAN FEEL HER MAGIC
Sent on a dangerous mission into the shadowy world of the Druids, Galen must find a powerful ancient relic to defeat the enemies of MacLeod Castle. But what he discovers is far more powerful—and far more dangerous. A Druid lass whose beauty is as spellbinding as any magic…
CAN HE FREE HER SOUL?
Reaghan is the most enchanting woman Galen has even met—and the most enigmatic. She alone is immune to his mind-reading gifts. He alone makes her feel safe and secure. But Reaghan holds a secret power deep inside her that could destroy them both. And if Galen hopes to hold this captivating woman in his arms every night, he must defeat the darkness that draws closer around her every day…
Kathe Robin from RT Book Reviews gave it 4.5 Stars and said “Grant’s newest Dark Sword novel skillfully melds history and legend in a quick moving story. It’s an adventurous, sensuous and highly moving romance that is impossible to put down.”

When you say the heros have some of your personaility traits, which ones exactly?
Are you excited about football this season? Do you prefer college or professional? Which teams and/or colleges?
Whoo Hoo, Mr. Grant! Southern Chivalry is a thing of beauty, and very romantic. Very. I’m Virginia from VA–so I know what I’m talking about ; )
“The best goodnight kiss in the world” was the start of something great for you both, including a second career for you as a research assistant! What has been your biggest surprise in your life as “RH”?

I love the humor Mr. Grant & being from Ga. I know chivalry isn’t dead back home. Miss it.
I have a friend that’s told me about your wife’s books but I haven’t had the pleasure yet. The covers are gorgeous though! Y’all have a great day..
Oh, what a great interview; I really enjoyed it.
And I agree, those book covers are wonderful.

Mr. Grant,
Your wife is in my top 10 romance writers of all time. I am attempting to be a published author one day and I appreciate having a husband who no longer bats an eye at the weird questions and thoughts I have (I use him as my weapons expert!). He was also a Marine (1833). So glad you’re such a supportive husband, so she can keep sending out these fabulous books!
LOL, I saw this interview and I had to laugh… This was one of my favorite ones “One day, you come home and the publishing gods have been kind and all is well. The very next day, the universe has exploded. When your wife is under deadline, do everything you can to make her life easier, dishes, laundry, kids, etc. “ LOL 🙂 Smart man! Donna is extremely sweet from talking to her online and her paranormal books are amazing 😀 LOVE them! I like to tell my fans on facebook about them often *grins* Was already a follower+ added… Read more »
First of all I have to say that I love your wife’s books! I had the pleasure of meeting her when she came to Pasadena TX for a signing. Her books are at the top of my book list and I count down the days until I can get my hands on the next book. 🙂 I recommend her books to anyone who will listen to me talk.
As for my question, I know each of the warriors have their own different powers if you could have super powers for a day what would you choose?
Thanks,
Lucy 😀
New GFC follower and stalker of Donna’s and a member of Donna’s Dolls. I love her Highlanders and I most def see some Marine characteristics mixed in. Great interview.
Awesome interview and as someone said earlier, thanks for your service to our country. Great idea, Lila! Thanks for giving us such a fun topic – the RH. Congrats, Donna! Your books always rock.
A very enjoyable interview! I have to ask – Did Donna have you try on a kilt during your recent trip to Scotland? 🙂
Michelle
Oh wow… 🙂 You know your wife is the one because of a kiss? That’s so romantic! 🙂 Love your wife’s books… btw. 🙂
Hello there Mr Grant,great interview. I do adore your wife’s books and the covers are amazing for the Warriors.

Hi Mr Grant and Mrs. Grant,

I really like your highland story and especially the cover, with six pack lol
Congratulations for the new book release ^^
I love the front cover!
Great Interview, Mr Grant. I totally think you are the cover models on all the books! Especailly being an Marine, who better than you to model!
Fan on Facebook!
Mr. D and Mr. Grant, what a HOOT! This was quite possibly one of the most enjoyable interviews I have read in a long time.
Perhaps when I interview Donna next month I should have Mr. Grant in tow!
I have almost all of Donna’s books, so quite obviously I am a fan.
Good luck to everyone!
Love the interview and LOVE Donna. She is such an amazing person on top of an amazing author. I am happy to hear she has an equally amazing man keeping her warm at night.
Thank you Mr. Grant for being here today and for your service to our country 🙂

Wonderful blog ~~ and having met Mr. Grant and Donna together, I have to say he is so awesomely supportive and a perfect southern gentleman!!
What a neat idea to focus on the Husbands!!
I adore that pic of you and Donna ~ and that she puts a little of you in all her heroes, whom I love!!
What a delightful interview ! Very well done to the both of you I really enjoyed it. My question is for both of you, having a wife who is a writer, lets say the following happens, it is your anniversay and you have made special plans to take her out on the town but then suddely her editior calls with emergency “revisions” (I am sure this almost never happens but hey this the world of reading is filled with what if’s lol) that needs to be done right away. What would your reaction be to your wife saying I am… Read more »
Great post Mr. Grant! I love your wife’s work. She’s the only author I know that has druids right now and feeds my fixes!
Does she bounce name ideas for her heros with you? I know I have some friends that I bounce the ideas of names with. Usually I find like two or three I like. So I ask them “Which you like better?”
I loved reading the interview. It is great learning more about Donna. 🙂 I love her books. It is also nice to learn where she got some of her inspirations for her heroes. 🙂
I am a follower. 🙂

Hi Mr. Grant! *waving*
Great interview! I love the picture of you and Mrs. Grant – just reinforces your comment about “the best goodnight kiss in the world”.
Where have you competed as a triathlete? What inspired you to become one? How do you like to unwind?
Mrs. Grant – why historical paranormal romance? Why not just historical romance or paranormal romance? How did you decide to combine them?
Mr. Grant – thank you for your service. You have my respect and admiration.

Thank you for a great interview Mr. Grant! I would say a great kiss is a pretty good indicator as to whether a person is the one. It means there is chemistry and that is something that is very important for characters in stories. It’s good to know your personality influences a lot of the traits in your wife’s character. I think sense of humour is one of them. I’m looking forward to meeting Donna’s highlanders.

So, that was you on the books, not Paul Marron and Jimy Thomas? Hubba hubba! 😉
I have a cousin who does triathlons as well. Do you pefer one of the three events? Which part of the triathlon do you perform best?

Thank you for serving our country as a marine. Hubba hubba! I loved your interview and your sense of humor, Mr. Grant. If the greatest kiss in the world let you know she was the one, what made her think that you were the one? Also how long did you date and how did you propose?
Great interview Mr. Grant! Your wifes cover are awesome and I do love me some highlanders. I think its great when a man helps with the household chores, I wish they all did. Do you read all of your wife’s books?

Carol – You’re right, the cover gods have been kind to Donna’s books. It’s a really good thing she can use me on all her covers. 😀
Rita – Thanks for being such a fan of my wife’s. I do try to keep her inline and manage the situation, but its very difficult at times. lol
Helen – Yes, you do need to order these books! 🙂
Ora – Serving my country has been my greatest honor.
Some of the traits such as honor, courage come directly from my service in the Marines.
As to football, I am excited that we’re going to have a season, and I prefer Pro over college. Of course the Dallas Cowboys are my team. 🙂
Virginia – the biggest surprise being an RH is how my friends look at my differently knowing what my wife writes, and how they come to me for “romantic” advice.
Ivy – The covers are great, but the books are better. You need to read them. 🙂 Enjoy!
Cynthia – Semper Fi!
I’m also my wife’s weapons expert, battle scene coordinator, and sounding board. Tell him to keep up the great work.
Ooh Rah!
Chelsea – The publishing gods are fickle. You never know what you’re going to get from one day to the next.
And don’t even get me started about reviewers. 😀
Lucy – I’m so glad you love her books, and I was also there at the Pasadena signing. 🙂
To answer your question, I think the power I’d like to have is teleportation. To start with, I get really tired of driving sometimes, and beyond that I could really rule in triathlons!
Michelle – Actually, no. Because I already own a kilt and wear it every year to our Renaissance Festival every year, as does our son. 🙂
May – Thank you!
Eli – Posing for the cover was great, thank God for airbrushing. lol
Sherie – Of course Marines can do anything. 😉
Lizzie – Sure! I’d love to be a part of the interview.
Leagh – Heard so much about you from Donna, and I can’t wait to meet you, Leagh. You’ve been a great help to her.
Melissa – Can’t wait to see you again. Thank you for everything you do for Donna!
Desere – My reaction to this situation is simple. If Donna feels the need to get those revisions out immediately, I would order a pizza, pour a glass of wine, and relax while she does all the work. 🙂
Raonaid – No, not really. Donna is very adept at naming her characters, which is not one of my strong suits.
Just ask her how she feels about our son’s middle name that I came up with. 🙂
Larena – Thank you!
