The winner of one of gifts I purchased on my trip to England is —
drum roll…Modokker — Lisa B!
Congratulations!
I know I mentioned in my last post I’d have pics of Bath today. I’m going to finish giving you more pics of the TOWER OF LONDON first. There are just a few more. If you want to read a little more about the Tower, look below at the last blog post.
By clicking on any of the photos you can enlarge them for better viewing.
INSIDE THE WALLS OF THE TOWER OF LONDON:
SMILING…
She’s smiling for the camera. These people are at the Tower, there for visitors to ask questions. They also had a woman dressed up in medieval garb, talking to children and posing for photos.
Yes, he marches back and forth all day at the Tower…
Windows at the Tower of London:
View from the outside.
As you can see, they’re quite narrow–for optimum protection.
View from inside the windows:
Inside the Tower, the windows are angled so one can easily maneuver while shoot arrows.
Ravens at the Tower.
Yes, to this day, they still keep ravens at the Tower. It’s the stuff of legends. Legend has it, if the ravens ever left London, the realm would collapse. They used to clip the wings of the birds so they could only fly in a circle and never leave.

Great pic’s & info. I’d love to visit Ireland or Scotland — all that beautiful countryside and accents 🙂 Thanks for sharing with us.
Hi Carrie! Glad you liked the pics! Yup, it’s true about the ravens and the legend.
Apparently, Cromwell was going to get rid of them, until someone told him about the legend. He kept the birds, just to play it safe. 😉
The ravens are beautiful and totally cool. 🙂 Thanks for stopping by!
Hugs,
Lila
Hi Stacey….LOL!! I like the way you think, girl. 😉 Nice choice in destination…I mean Scotland, not under the kilts. Okay, maybe I mean that, too. lol
Hugs,
Lila
Hi gamistress66 — Very nice! I’ve *got* to see Ireland someday! It moved several notches up my list after I saw Leap Year. 😉

Lila, I love, love, love the pictures! So jealous. I want to go to England so badly. Love the little tidbits you include. I had no idea about the ravens having their wings clipped. If I could go anywhere…that is tough to narrow down. I want to go to soooo many places! All my life I have wanted to take a tour of Europe. I would love to see where my ancestors came from. Also, it looks so pretty in pictures. I also would like to go to Japan. I am really interested in the culture and my boyfriend is… Read more »

Hi Danielle! I love the places you want to go! A tour of Europe and a trip to Japan *sighs*. I hope you definitely get to both—soon! I’ve never been to Japan but I have toured Europe. Thank you for the lovely comment about the pics and this post. 🙂

Lovely pics. I am just slightly jealous too! LOL! I’m glad you had such a great time. I would love to travel all over the United Kingdom visiting historical places and touring haunted castles and manors. I love a good ghost story! The history of it all would be amazing! Scotland would be at the top of my list! That would be a blast! Thanks for sharing with us!
OOO! I LOVE a good ghost story, too, Johanna!! Lots of haunted castles in the UK, that’s for sure! Thanks for sharing. 🙂

oh, the pictures are wonderful! I would love to visit England, but i think i would have to visit Scotland, first. Just the thought of getting a chance of even glimsing a sexy highlander…oh i would just faint ^_*!!
Hi Practimom – Thank you. I’m so glad you liked the photos. 🙂 What great destination choices! I totally understand why you’d like to visit those places. And while in Scotland, one should definitely do some Hot Scot seeing. 😉
Hugs,
Lila
I would love to loose myself in the Scottish highlands. Books always describe them as picturesque and I want to live them. Breathe the heather and take a dip in a loch.

Oh, Robin, that sounds wonderful! I hope you get to visit the Scottish highlands soon and do all those things you want to do! 🙂

I’d love to visit Paris with my mother. It’s been a dream of our for years.
Oh my, Jena, you’ve struck a cord in my heart!!! Paris is my FAVORITE city in the world! I loved London. I really did. But there is something totally magical about the city of Paris. Every cafe, every building, the atmosphere–it’s incredible!
Oh, and the food is to die for!
I hope you and your mom realize your dream. I have a few pics of Paris on my website. I’ve been there twice and am eager to go back. *sighs*
Hugs,
Lila
PS. My second favorite city is Venice. What a city! A definite MUST SEE!! 🙂
I would go to Ireland to see the homeland of my Lockhart ancestors. The Lockhart home, built in Ardara in the 1790s, is a humble abode but to stand in the place where John Lockhart lived in the 1820s before emigrating to Canada would be spine tingling.Especially since the farms and homes he had in New Brunswick were demolished and reforested.Even the cemetery where he is buried in New Brunswick is overgrown with trees. Thanks, Elizabeth
Sounds wonderful, Elizabeth! Ireland is on my list, too! 🙂
