Mr. Archer: I’m married to Zoë Archer and she writes paranormal historical and sci-fi romance.
Mr. Archer: I’m a writer, aka Nico Rosso, and also working in sci-fi romance. When I’m not pounding out the words, I’m the cook, photographer, webmaster, graphic designer, fight choreographer and bookshelf builder in our habitat.
Mr. Archer: We met once, briefly in college, back stage during a play. I was acting and she was a dresser. But our paths didn’t cross again until years later when a mutual friend slid me her number. I didn’t need to be convinced she was the one. Everything just fit.
Mr. Archer: I was working from home and she called from work. I can’t remember my exact reaction, but I’m sure there was much congratulating and hollering and plenty of dessert that night.
Mr. Archer: Kell in Collision Course is a former brawler turned space ace fighter pilot. So he and I share a lot of attributes. We both growl.
Mr. Archer: First date: I was (c), artsy, hanging out on an uncomfortable wicker couch, drinking red wine and watching a black and white movie.

Mr. Archer: Makes me think of trouser marbles.
Mr. DiPasqua: *Ding Ding Ding* You win the prize for giving the answer the rest of the guys have been skirting around. LOL! How long have you been a RH? (Romance Husband). What advice would you give new RH’s about what you’ve learned being married to a romance author? What should a new RH do or not do when his wife is under deadline?
Mr. Archer: I’ve been an official RH for 6 years. My advice is to respect every stage of the process. Even if she is staring at the patch of sun on the floor, her spoon hovering over the unstirred coffee, she is writing. When she’s under deadline, pick up all the slack you can. Be the man in her corner, ready with the food or quick kiss on her cheek as she’s typing away.
Mr. Archer: We inspire each other. And there’s nothing more fun than research.
Mr. Archer: I’d say that Catullus from the Blades of the Rose series (his book is Stranger), is the most like me. He’s brainy and a bit shy, but has a lot of passion under the surface.
Mr. Archer: The Greek-Italian’s Seductive Siren. I’m half Greek, half Italian and I was swept away by Zoë.

Hi Rebecca, I mentioned to Virginia C about how we do read each other’s work. Because of that, we have a great common language that would make working on a project together a lot of fun.
Yes, Caroline, it does get a little crazy at times, but we know when to stay out of each other’s way and when to force each other out the door for a long walk in the sun. Glad you’re looking forward to “Devil’s Kiss”, I really enjoyed it and think the romance world will too.

Hi there Mr. Archer, judging a ‘book by it’s cover’ Devils Kiss looks pretty intense so my question is: does Zoe have much influence in the design creation of each book cover, such as model choice, script type, the catch phrase or blurb that draws in the reader…? If not, is she satisfied with the end product or have there been any covers that have caused some concern?
I feel compelled to add that Mr. Archer (aka Nico) does the dishes, and I do the laundry, so when the writing gets intense, we both desert our posts. It’s a very egalitarian system in our habitat.

Usually the book cover design process is pretty far from the writer’s influence, but Zoë’s been very happy with the Kensington team. There’s a form an author fills out with pertinent information about the cover, but after that the publisher works with the designers directly. Zoë gets a look at the blurb and can comment on the back cover copy.
Wow, you wear quite of hats. I am curious when you are the fight choregrapher, do you have someone to spar with to see what works and what doesn’t? Do you record the choregraphy? Personally I think that would be really cool working out the logistics of a fight to be believable.It must get hectic at times when you both are working on books. Hi Ora,When it comes to fight choreography, it’s Zoë and me working out the moves in the middle of our office. We go slow and haven’t blackened any eyes yet. Not only is this a fun break from sitting at our desks, it also helps in the writing because Zoë has the physical experience of the moves.And yes, Zoë wears many hats when I’m on deadline, too – cook and coach and inspiration.I feel lucky to be able to read her stuff first. Hi Karen,I haven’t done this kind of interview before (and neither has Zoë for me) but we’ve been to a couple of romance conferences together, so a lot of these questions come up. We still celebrate releases, usually a nice dinner out and a chocolate assortment at home. For Shadow_Kohler, Zoë is a much more prolific reader than I am (and much faster), so she has a larger array of writers she’s read. Thanks, Cathy. Zoë was the first to write a book. I had been working in different forms and watched her process and knew I had to do it. Oh, yes, Rosie, the Devil’s Kiss is very tempting. I’m glad it drew you out. Most of my real (not imagined) inventions are carpentry projects, like designing bookshelves to fit every available space in our apartment. I don’t have one place I go to for inspiration. It seems to come from all over the place (magazine articles, the shower, even just a title will pop into my head and I’ll have to create a story around it). My mind does a lot of wandering and Zoë will often see me staring into the distance, then get up to write some notes down.

As I was reading the interview I was thinking that you both work a lot & wondered if you got to travel for work/research or just pleasure. You answered that a bit, but do you have anything to add, or where you love to travel?

You’re right, Di, we do work a lot and travel is one of the biggest things we miss when things get hectic. There are tons of places in the US neither of us have seen (can you believe the Grand Canyon has escaped us?) as well as places in Europe. We went for a belated honeymoon in Italy and would like to go back. Even if we’re traveling for pleasure, it turns into research because of how the new environment inspires us. We usually come back from trips, even weekend getaways, with new concepts in our notebooks.
Enjoyed the interview. You are a well matched couple. I have most of the BLADES OF THE ROSE series and can’t wait to finish getting them so I can read it. (I like to be able to read a whole series at once) This new series sounds intriguing. Are these rakes redeemable? Had to go to Zoe’s site to read the blurb on it and the Hellraiser’s series. I hope you enjoy the Blades, librarypat. I think the books are a great adventure. The Hellraisers are much darker. The rakes are redeemable, but it’s a massive struggle for them to break out of the clutches of evil (luckily, they have powerful women to help).
